(More customer reviews)This is a review for the Breville BKC600XL k-cup coffee maker. I didn't know what a k-cup was until just recently so I thought a video review would be helpful. For the record, a K-cup is a mini single serving of ground coffee design by the Keurig company and their special brewers. I believe they were originally meant for commercial use but recently came onto the personal consumer scene (and I'm rather glad).

You may not think it's true but I consider myself a coffee snob. My last two coffee makers were 1500 dollar fully automatic espresso machines but the fear of them breaking down and the cost involved always diluted my true coffee experience. When I saw the makers that were involved in the K-Cup industry, they got my attention. Green Mountain, Caribou, Tully's, Newman's Own and even Celestial Seasonings tea are just a few of the over 150 varieties they offer.

So, here's the Breville in action, I hope it helps you make up your mind (btw, the Breville includes the K-Cup that allows you to put any coffee you desire into it. It works like a charm! I'm also trying this Pod Holster so that I can use less expensive pods in my brewer Perfect Pod Holster Use Any Pod in Your Keurig Coffee Maker I'll let you know how it works!

(More customer reviews)i had received a keurig coffee maker for christmas. i was tickled because i really love drinking coffee one fresh cup at a time. and being the only coffee drinker in the house, making a whole pot was just wasteful. up until now, i'd been using a french press and tea kettle, which made a great cup of coffee, but took forever. long story short, i really like this machine.

of course though, it's great flaw is the ridiculous amount of WASTE. as great a cup of coffee those little k-cups make, i just can't bring myself to throwing out one of those little bits of landfill fodder every time i want a cup of joe. i had received that official reusable mesh filter device with the coffee maker, to use my own coffee, but that device isn't worth the cardboard it came in. its design is terribly flawed and not once could i get a decent cup from it. we even tried some diy hacks, trying to make something or retrofit something that would give a comparable brew to the k-cups. no go. frustrated, i searched for something that would work.

this is it. i was apprehensive about buying it, not wanting to shell out more money on a device that just wouldn't work, but luckily it gave me a great cup right out of the gate. while i wish i could have found something that created zero waste (besides the coffee grounds) for this machine, i can live with composting these paper filters with the grounds. it's a little more complicated (a few more steps) than just sticking a cup in the holster, but this is the design that works and it's not hard to use. i get to drink the coffee i love using this fast and easy machine, one cup at a time without throwing out those awful plastic cups.

what's great is that it works just fine with "drip brew" coffee grounds, which is what you usually find in the pre-ground packs at the grocery store. freshly ground coffee is always better, but i don't have a grinder of my own yet, and i hate using the machines at the store (they have no finesse and pulverize the beans regardless of ground setting.)

(More customer reviews)This is a godsend! I adore my Keurig but was looking to use my own coffee grounds since I can't find a K-cup that matches Dunkin Donut's coffee. I was extremely disappointed in Keurig's reusable K-cup. Sure it's easy but removing the coffee grounds was a huge aggravation, not to mention messy. These filters along with the EZ-cup eliminates the mess of removing used grounds. This is a must have if you enjoy using your own grounds with your Keurig.
***UPDATE:I'm still loving the E-Z cup and filters. However, I just got a bad batch of filters. Every filter in the pack would bust and leak grounds all in the cup. I would then have to disassemble the Keurig to rinse away all the stray grounds. I eventually doubled the filters for the remainder of the pack. I am about to order several more packs. Hopefully, this won't be something I run across frequently.

(More customer reviews)I previously owned the older (non-recalled) Senseo model and loved it; I used it daily for over two years. I recently purchased the deluxe, improved, model and the coffee tastes and smells like plastic. I've gone through an entire package of pods to see if the taste disappears; it has not. I don't know if the plasticy flavor and aroma is due to the deluxe model or the 'improvements' made in the overall design; however, I'm very dissatisfied with the system and will probably return it.

The Senseo's mild pressure system heats water to 205 degrees Fahrenheit in a boiler consistently every time. (More customer reviews)Something that is important to be aware of is that you can't use just any ground coffee in this filter.I have a Kuerig Elite and bought a standard bag of Dunkin Donuts ground coffee and when I first tried to use it, the water going into the cup overflowed and came out of the overflow which essentially watered down the coffee considerably and had water pouring everywhere.I tried it again, this time with a little less coffee in the filter and had the same result.I contacted Kuerig customer support and they replied and told me to make sure I didn't pack the coffee, the filter was clean, and that the grind wasn't too fine because a fine grind would clog the filter.I cleaned the filter very carefully and even stirred the coffee grounds with the end of the spoon to ensure that it wasn't packed.The results were the same.I haven't tried using a different brand but I will.As for now though, the idea is great but I'm not convinced that there isn't a possible design flaw with this.Once I try a different ground coffee I will update further.
