(More customer reviews)I have been using a french press to make my morning coffee for many years now, and I vastly prefer the taste of french press to filter coffee. Over the years, I have broken quite a few glass beakers. I was extremely thrilled, then, to see that Bodum was offering a dishwasher safe shatterproof polycarbonate model. I snapped up two of them about 14 months ago, and was pleased as punch.

Until I started to notice coffee drips on the counter after fixing my coffee. At first I thought I was spilling a little, but it quickly became clear that the beakers on both presses were leaking from cracks that have developed in bottoms of the beakers. Each press has received about an effective six months of usage (I run the dishwasher about every other day, and I hate to handwash a coffee pot in the morning). Bodum, however, has told me that they are out of warranty and in any case, there is no warranty on the beaker. I can understand why there would be no warranty on the glass beakers. However, I am disappointed in the quality of the poly beakers, especially given that they are more expensive than the glass beakers. I am also disappointed in Bodum USA customer service, which essentially informed me that I am SOL. I can order a replacement beaker for $16 plus shipping. An entirely new press is only $20. It's not a ton of money, but I thought I was purchasing a quality product that would last me for a signicant amount of time, not something that was practically disposable.

I'm still weighing my replacement options, but I'm a dissatisfied customer.
