Many espresso purists turn their noses up at superauto machines, but as someone who has owned a high-end non-auto machine, this Saeco will reliably produce a high-quality espresso shot with virtually no effort!With my manual machines the shots would vary in quality, and while at times I could produce a better shot on my own, it would require a lot of effort.This superauto produces espresso that is 100% reliably better than most but not all of the shots I could produce manually, and it does so with almost no effort on my part (add water, beans, empty dreg drawer, that's about it).

Oh, and definitely get the [optional] Milk Island, which produces a phenomenal microfoam, to the point that you can do some basic latte art with it; again not better than some I could produce manually, but consistently better than most I produce manually, and with no work at all!

This machine looks great, heats up INSTANTANEOUSLY (that's right, no waiting at all for a boiler to heat up), is fairly quiet (thanks to ceramic grinder), and produces espresso that is superior to anything you could ever get a Starbucks.

I also looked at just about every other superauto in the $500 to $1,500 price range, and in fact tried a number of them out in person.This particular unit was my favorite by a wide margin!

BUY THIS AND THE OPTIONAL MILK ISLAND AND NEVER GO TO STARBUCKS AGAIN!I'm serious.

(More customer reviews)I honestly don't get all the negativity here!!! I have used all of the "cheap" brands of coffeemakers over the years - Mr. Coffee, Black & Decker, Braun, etc. I was sick and tired of buying a new one every year, so we invested in this mid-priced Saeco and WE LOVE IT! It confirms the thought that you get what you pay for. We did not experience the "thermos" effect, nothing broke, I do not find this hard to clean either and MOST IMPORTANTLY - the coffee tastes GREAT!!! I do have one suggestion for Saeco - put a water level guide on the exterior. That said, I just used my 2 cup measuring cup & fill it 2 1/2 times and I'm good to go. Is everyone else thrashing this coffeemaker around causing parts to break? We wash ours e/o day (that's how often we have time to make coffee on average) with no problem. My Starbucks finally tastes like Starbucks in the coffee house!! I highly recommend this coffeemaker AND their espresso makers are wonderful too. Well worth the money. BUY SAECO AND YOU WON'T BE SORRY!

(More customer reviews)Just got the Nina and after taking a few minutes and following the well detailed instructions to a T had made one of the finest home-brewed cups of java in a while. For those who enjoy the good cup and cannot afford(or as I justify) spending a few thousand bucks on a real fine machine this one takes the burden away. If you want to brew a full cup you simply hold the brew button down untill your cup is filled.
I've been trhu a few of the 200+ dollar machines and this one is well to compete with the 500+ dollar machines minus the bells and whisltes and it makes a cup just as good as the two-thousand dollar machine without the bling.
If your looking for a fine home-brewed espresso machine then look no further as this one wil make you exactly what you want.

(More customer reviews)I owned a Jura Impressa S90 for 6 years at a daily rate of 8 espressos . No problems , I sold it to upgrade it for a professional like machine.. Bad decision, The Talea Ring Plus has a beautiful design and is relatively small for a full automatic, but...
After 4 months it was leaking (faulty 0 rings ), it wastes more water that it goes into the coffee, it is very high maintenance to clean (new filter every 2 weeks, cleaning tablet every 3 weeks, descaling twice in 3 months), but most important if you have a problem forget about Saeco customer service:rude, incompetent and they don't return emails or calls, so you better have a good relationship with your retailer to enlist their help. After the repair of my NEW machine, Saeco lost my original box and protective pads, they scratched the led display and plate and the serial number sticker was missiing...
After 8 single coffeesyou must empty the grounds and the drip tray! the container is flooded with water.
What about the coffee? Just OK , not any better that one could get with a machine one third of the price.
If you are thinking superautomatic forget Saeco( at least this model)

Anyway, this thing is quite simply awesome.My wife and I are now addicted to coffee :-)Latte machiatos and cappuccinos in the morning, espresso in the evening, hot milk for our daughter too!

The machine is totally automated, it will tell you when to clean it, when to add stuff, it will keep your cups warm, and did I mention it makes wonderful coffee?You can personalize how you want each of the different coffee drinks to come out, stronger, hotter, more robust.You can double the quantity of coffee coming out.It will accommodate various cup sizes, from espresso cups to large coffee cups.Did I mention it makes wonderful espresso/coffee:-)

Now the negatives:the machine is rather large so make sure you have the space for it, figure about a 1'X1' footprint of counter space, but it looks very modern and high tech.You do have to keep it clean, certain things have to be done about 15 minutes after your first cup (if you use the cappuccitore to make milk based drinks) but that is understandable as you want to make sure the milk doesn't start clogging everything.The water reservoir is not very large (you can get about 6 cups of coffee out of it) considering the size of the machine.You do have to learn to navigate the touch sensitive ring to get to what you want, I can imagine some people finding it frustrating.The machine does seem to have a lot of moving internal parts, when you use it you hear all kinds of mechanical noises in there, it makes you wonder how long that internal mostly plastic apparatus, called the Brew Group, will last; it's the heart of the machine.I am now drinking more coffee than ever!!!

All in all this thing is awesome, I hope it lasts a long time!

(More customer reviews)Fine machine.Brews an excellent shot with good head.Heats up quickly and the durability has been excellent.Steams well but it definitely takes longer than I'm used to.I have this one at work but the 30013 at home which I think is an even better model.Brews and steams much quicker and while the case is the same the push buttons on this one feel less solid than the flip switches on the 30013.
