These filters will work and are designed for all sizes and styles of Chemex Coffee Brewers except the small Chemex CM-1C & CM-1 models (pint size models) 1-3 Cup Coffee Makers. (More customer reviews)I am very pleased with this product.I have been eyeing it for awhile, mostly as an alternative to the drip we use daily for reasons of getting away from plastic.I am glad I waited because the new design with the handle is wonderful--the coffee pours easily and gracefully.

Some things to be ready for, though--it does take about three to four rounds of pouring the boiling water over the coffee grounds while waiting for it to drip, and the glass container cools fairly quickly.I was also concerned that the extra steps of boiling the water and pouring it through would be too much in the morning as opposed to filling up the drip machine and hitting the switch, but I find that I actually like the ritual of preparing coffee with the Chemex (and I am not a morning person).Also, I found that pre-heating the Chemex with hot tap water for a few minutes while waiting for the coffee water to boil makes a lot of difference, and then once the coffee is brewed, I pour it all into a stainless steel carafe or thermos to keep it hot.The coffee is so good that any leftover at the end of the day, either re-heated or iced, is delicious.The six-cup is perfect for one to two enthusiastic coffee drinkers.I highly recommend!

There are several sizes available from these guys - this one works for me and I like having the handle rather than that weird wooden belt thing to grip it by.I discovered that their branded filter papers are better than trying to just use cheapie grocery store ones, but those will work too. The flimsier ones bend themselves into the groove and create a seal, which can lead to a burbly mess as displaced air in the bottom chamber tries to escape, bringing coffee with it. If you want to use the cheap filters, lay a straw inside the groove so there's a place for the air to escape.Whether the flavor is better with their branded filters is a holy war I'm not getting into.

(More customer reviews)Chemex, in my opinion, makes the best damn regular coffee. I've tried french presses, vacuum systems, etc.; Chemex 8 Cup Coffee Maker CM 8A tops them all. And it's not even the coffee maker that is the key but the filter paper. Since the Chemex system was invented by a scientist, back in the '30's, I can only assume he was using some laboratory filter paper in his shop and figured out that was what was making his coffee taste so good.

As far as I can tell, Chemex filter paper removes the slightly sour/acid taste from coffee, that I find objectionable. This, in turn, lets through the complex bitter/sweet flavors and allows me to taste them more fully.

For what it's worth, I grind my dark roasted beans right before using them, grinding 6 cups worth for wife and myself. We've also made our own ceramic coffee pots that have the same size top, to hold the Chemex filters. Works just as well as the Chemex pots. Now, if I can just find an auto-brew device that can use Chemex filters for work...
